The effect of yoga therapy on post-operative side-effects among women with breast cancer: a randomized controlled trial

Many women diagnosed with breast cancer experienced significant physical and psychological distress.

The most common residual symptoms reported by these patients include pain, fatigue, poor sleep quality, scarring contractures, limited range of shoulder joint motion, and anxiety.

We conducted a randomized controlled trial (supported by Hong Kong Cancer Fund) to assess the impact of yoga therapy on scarring contractures and range of motion in shoulder joints, as well as health-related quality of life and symptom distress among women recovering from surgical treatment of breast cancer.
